Self Sufficiency
Those of you who were interested in self sufficiency, here are a few links for growing your own food.
If you have some property, check out square foot gardening:

If you have a balcony, check out potted plants.

You can also start up a co-op garden in your community. One apartment complex I lived in did this! Pretty nifty idea I thought. Get to know your neighbors by working with them on something that brings beauty, peace, and a sense of accomplishment!
There are many other sites online you can go to, or you can check out your local library for books on these topics.
Enjoy!

Good stuff, Karen.
Do you have any books you would suggest?
We can start a library.
'Square Foot Gardening: A New Way to Garden in Less Space with Less Work' -by Mel Bartholomew (Published 2005) Is the book I've always turned to when I've had land.
